ICT and me
Over the years that I have been both a student and a teacher, there has been more and more emphasis on ICT and how it can be incorporated into lessons. From the humble powerpoint to more creative platforms like koobits and audacity, ICT in the classroom has indeed gone through significant transformations.
One class I remembered particularly well was a Secondary 2 class in TKGS. It was an English lesson and it was conducted in the computer lab.
It was a vocabulary lesson and the teacher gave us a set of descriptive words that described emotions. The class was kind of a prep class for a composition assignment as well as the coming oral exam.
The class was an English niche class (made up of students who had scored well for their english exams)
She set us to take a look at the different dictionaries available online to find out the meanings of this word and which word class they belong to.
After finding out the information, we were tasked to share with the class our findings and also how we would use the words in a sentence to give it more nuance etc.
This was useful as it gave us the opportunity to increase our vocab and interact directly with the words as we found out how words such as 'maudlin' was pronounced etc.
It also opened us up to different dictionaries and sources available online.
